Lending firm collector loses cash, gadget in Ubay highway robbery

A collector for a lending firm lost money which he had just collected from a client after he was allegedly held up by two armed men along a national road in Ubay.

According to Staff Sgt. Renato Cutaran of the Ubay Police Station, two motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem blocked the path of victim Alfredo Piana, Jr. who was also riding a motorcycle and held him at gunpoint in Barangay Tuburan.

Piana allegedly handed over P20,000 cash and his cellphone to the suspects who immediately fled the area following the robbery in Barangay Tuburan.

“Gikan kuno siya naningil sa iyang kliente samtang nagbiyahe siya padung balik sa ilang opisina duha kaw taw na nagmotor, unya ang backrider maoy ning declare og tulis,” said Cutaran.

Piana told police that the suspects sped towards Talibon. He was unable to recognize their faces but noted that they were wearing black jackets.

According to Cutaran, investigators are continuing their probe on the case.

Cutaran said that they are still looking for residents in the area who may have witnessed the incident or seen the fleeing suspects.
