Two separate operations conducted by the Dauis Police Station on Friday led to the arrest of a village watchman for illegal possession of shabu and another person wanted for charges of illegal possession of firearm.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Leo Moises Lison, operatives of the Dauis PNP swooped into the residence of one Brian Nistal, 38, married and a village watchman (barangay tanod) in Purok 1, Barangay Mariveles who is suspected of involved in illegal drug activities.
During the conduct of their search, police were able to seize from the possession of Nistal nine (9) small cellophane sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 5-grams and a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P34,000.00.
Nistal will be charged for illegal possession of prohibited drugs, a violation under Sec. 11 of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, a person who has been charged for illegal possession of firearm was also collared by Dauis police operatives during an Oplan Tracker Operation.
The police team were able to track down in Barangay Mariveles the suspect identified as Candido Aranzado Jr. who is also native of said village.
The arresting team led by Police Lt. Bonifacio Tañola made the arrest by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court, Branch 1, Presiding Judge Lindecita Arcamo.
Aranzado, who is presently detained at the Dauis lock-up jail, have an option to post bail in the amount of P120,000.00 for his temporary liberty. (KB, WM)
