Evacuation starts in Candijay, Calape due to heavy rains, winds

Various evacuation centers are prepared on the event storm “Auring” will cause mass evacuation of affected residents especially in the coastal areas of the province.

Anthony Damalerio, chief of the Prov’l Disaster Risk Management  told the Chronicle last night that initially, the town of Candijay under Mayor Toper Tutor conducted a pre-emptive evacuation on residents from Barangay Panadtaran to OPanadtaran Elementary School  with 7 families and 11 individuals.

From Brgy Cambane, Candijay to Tambongan National High School with 38 families, 135 individuals.

The town of Calape also conducted pre-emptive evacuation on residents from Mantatao island to Calape National High School with initial count of 250 evacuees.

Monitoring continue this morning on evacuation of residents.

Meanwhile, the diocese of Tagbilaran alerted its parish priests to have areas ready for evacuation.

In Tagbilaran , the II Buon Pastore Community Center  near the Immacualte heart of Mary Seminary is open for evacuees.
