A former seaman died after his motorcycle fell into a roadside ditch at a national road in Antequera town on Monday night.
Staff Sgt. Dante Paredo of the Antequera Police Station said that the fatality, Herardo Torculas, 45, of Barangay Poblacion in Antequera was still rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival.
According to Paredo, Torculas was seen losing control of his motorcycle before it fell into a ditch along a sharp curve in Barangay Tabuan, Antequera at past 6 p.m.
The victim was reported to have been coming from a drinking session prior to the accident.
“Na-lose control siya sa iyang motor kay mura’g nakainom man ni siya unya nahagbong ni siya sa canal kilid sa highway,” said Paredo.
The victim sustained severe injuries to the head which caused his death.
He was not wearing a helmet and was believed to have been speeding during the incident, said Paredo.
“Kusog-kusog siguro ni og dagan,” Paredo said. (A. Doydora)
