One man died while a male minor was injured after two motorcycles collided head on in Sikatuna town on Saturday night.
The fatality identified as Meliton Anino, 24, was declared dead on the spot by Dr. Paz Maniwang who responded to the incident, said Chief Master Sgt. Abraham Polinar of the Sikatuna Police Station.
According to Polinar, Anino and the 17-year-old boy who was driving the opposing motorcycle collided in between the two lanes along a national road in Barangay Cambuac Norte.
“Nag-abot sila sa tunga,” said Polinar.
The boy meanwhile was rushed to a health center in Sikatuna but was later transferred to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for further treatment.
Police have yet to determine who was at fault in the collision as Polinar noted that there were no witnesses to the incident.
“Way nakakita, ila rang nadungog na naay hing buto. Mao to ilang gitan-aw nagbangga na diay,”Polinar said.
According to Polinar, one or both motorcycles may have been speeding prior to the collision based on the damages of both vehicles.
“Di ingon na ginagmay na damage, totally damaged man g’yud…nangabungkag ilang motor,” he said.
Initial investigation also indicated that both victims were not wearing helmets during the incident. (A. Doydora)
