An 18-year-old man died after an incoming four-wheel vehicle driven by a senior citizen slammed into his motorcycle at a national road in Alicia town at past 9 a.m. on Friday.
The fatality, Benjamin Bitos a resident of Untaga, Alicia was still rushed to the Candijay Community Hospital in the nearby town of Candijay but was declared dead on arrival, said Staff Sgt. Dennis Dapiton of the Alicia Police Station.
According to Dapiton, Bitos and Benjamin de Guzman, 69, of Pilar town who was driving his Kia Wagon were headed towards opposite directions when they figured in the head-on collision in Barangay Untaga.
Dapiton said de Guzman crossed over to Bitos’ lane when he tried to overtake a vehicle in front of him.
“Base sa among investigation, na drag ang biktima approximately 26 feet from the point of impact,” said Dapiton.
Meanwhile, de Guzman who was uninjured immediately surrendered to authorities following the incident.
He was detained at the Alicia Police Station and was set to be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
Dapiton noted that Bitos was driving without a license and a helmet. (A. Doydora)
