Two siblings, aged 10 and 13, drowned while swimming in a water impounding dam in Ubay at past 4 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Staff Sgt. Fernando Doguilles of the Ubay Police Station, the fatalities, a 10-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, along with their cousin who is also a minor were by themselves and were unsupervised during the incident.

Doguilles said the siblings may have reached a deep portion of the dam leading to the drowning incident in Barangay Lumangog.

The victims’ cousin reported the incident to his parents who in turn asked for assistance from residents in the area.

“Nagdagan dagan to ilang ig-agaw pauli kay nalumos ang duha. Wala na siya makatabang kayt medyo lawom,” said Doguilles.

The boy was found floating at a deep portion of the impounding dam while the girl was found underwater by residents.

According to Doguilles both were declared dead on the spot. (AD)
